A mother and son prepare for the Great Migration—and meet the scale of life beyond the signal.

Before Kenya, Alicia invited her son into the preparation. He helped research what to carry; films and music gave them a shared imaginative map before the first safari drive. Once there, ordinary connectivity fell away and the landscape supplied its own rhythm.

They watched the Great Migration move through the Maasai Mara and came close enough to giraffes for her son to notice their eyelashes. Against that scale, clothing was not costume but intention. For Alicia, dressing for travel is a way of honouring life—arriving alert to the world one has crossed to see.

Dress for the distance. Stay awake to what it reveals.
